Ode to my Wallet
My wallet went missing this morning. I could not find it anywhere, and began to fear all the possibilities of what might have happened. I thought of calling the bank for fear that someone might use my debit card to buy a plain ticket to Timbuktu. I did not know who to call to prevent some pervert from stealing my identity. i prayed to God that he would keep my wallet safe. Angrily, I tore up my house attempting to find my extraordinary normal brown wallet. I found the wallet in the last place I looked, right behind a leg of the leather coach. Nothing is more ordinary than a brown wallet; (my dad's wallet is the same exact one) but nothing is more securing than having a wallet in your back right pocket. Why can't we treasure the things in our pockets here and now?

5 Things WOrth Clucking About: Ode to John Elway
John Elway is better than Favre as a quarterback here's why:
1. He retired at his prime, and did not linger when Football had passed him away.
2. He knew how to do the impossible.
3. He was respected by the owner of the Broncos.
4. He knew how to run away from the Defense. On the move no one was better.
5. He Played for one team.He helped make Denver important, more than a cow-town.
Thanks John for always believing in Denver and the people of the City where you made it
happen. You could have chosen a bigger city, like Los Angeles, or New York. But stayed true to a city that will always love you.

Due Southwest: Acceptance of Love
It's not what we do, nor how we love, it is the acceptance of love. Lauren Smith January 17, 2010
The call of joyful love starts when the Chinook wind chips away at the glacier, flowing down into a chilling crystalline trickle. The trickle flows down the mountain slope. It grows in strength and become a stream. The stream flows into a park where ducks float atop. A little red head little purple clad German born three year old, came to the park to the feed the ducks. He feeds bread crumbs to the stream. The ducks gobble the crumbs up in loving appreciation.

Moonpies of Romance: Onions
Smelly small potent, the onion caramelizes in my oven at 400 degrees. I sliced into four pounds of onions today to make our French Onion Soup. I slit into the yellow onions heart and threw it into my cast iron dutch oven to cook for an hour; the onions fought back with painful tears.
I wondered who were the first people to think it a good idea to use onions in their cooking? How did the first people know the richness they held when used properly? Where were they first used? I love the taste of sweet onions, the usefullness of a yellow onion, and the tart taste of a red onion juilienned to a bed of arugula.

Moonpies of Romance: My Love Bird Theolonious Monk
Ode to my love-bird Thelonious Sphere Monk:
Just like the jazz man, she commands attention,
she does not bebop, she does dance around the room like a Sufi,
She can not be touched or she will bite you.
But if you allow her to come on her own accord she will lite on you shoulder for awhile.
She loves to chew on the word, she has bitten a few pages of my bible; maybe a section that I need to pay more attention to, or maybe not. She is my free spirited bird; a truly loved bird because she plays her own song daily.

Cluck/Chuck: Conjurer's Bird by Martin Davies
Cluck It/Chuck It: Chucked it but almost didn't.
The book was sublimely stirring but I was not carried away by the streams the author conjured. I loved the subject matter; that of exploration of the beauty found in common misplaced things. However, I never got to that moment where I lost myself in the words of the author; moments of surprise were deadened. I wanted to really like this book, but found myself asleep on the coach.

Because my mouth is dirt monkey nasty

Freezing Bromeliad
The weather man today was giddy. He looked like Tiny Tim on Christmas day, "God Bless Us Everyone." for now the Weather is what everyone wants to hear about. He gleams and says, "It might snow! It has not snowed since 1977." An image of children throwing snowballs in front of Dixie Land elementary appears on the screen. The kids trample the school garden as they gather the dusting of snow.
Not sure if my garden will be damaged by the weather, for it is freezing. I hope we have covered everything properly so our Bromeliads and Lilies do not freeze. Strawberry growers cover their crops by using sprinklers and creating an iced over covering. The icicles serve the Strawberries like a blanket, keeping the fruit warm under a frozen comforter.
Weather can make people a cheerleader for the unexpected turns in life.

Moon Pies of Romance: North Dakota Lake
I was a purple clad Viking lover, red white and blue flag waving, parade loving, three foot celebration of a tale. The tale that filled up my dreaming life was the one told about a lake house in North Dakota. I dreamt of flying above the lake like a Canadian goose, only I was wearing cute little mouse ears on my head. I was told that if I wore the hat my dreams would surely come true; my dreams would happen for me.
I dreamed of sailing a little boat into the middle of the lake. I dreamed of diving from the boat into the middle and breaking into the deep crystalline surface. I would then swim down and collect rocks from the bottom. I would show how strong I was to my grandfather. Life would be broken open and made newly awesome. My grandfather’s lake pure and simple remained a dream. In a way I am glad that my dream of getting to the lake did not occur. The inability forced me to dream big and search for the hidden treasures found in America.

Cluck/Chuck? Where is God? Dr. John Townsend
We all have had moments when we have felt overwhelmingly outside the Lord's warm hands. Dr. John Townsend, the Best Selling Author of Boundaries, examines the question: "Where is God Now That I need HIm Most!" He illustrates how hard times make us look for God; How we are wired to look for God; that God is really for us even in the most difficult times; and How each Christian Experiences pain and the walk with God in different ways.
The question "Where is God" has been answered by at least 121,151 books, so what makes this book stand out? The book is easily applicable to life; there are many practical examples of how to find God when you have burnt the bacon. Townsend avoids using legalistic means (self efficient steps) to get out of our hard times; he points to repentance and the turning to prayer, community, and honest communication with God. He shows that we are not alone in our pain, and that this pain needs to be dealt with honestly. I appreciated that he did not allow the reader to feel it was okay to fall into victim hood. He illustrates how we are responsible for proper stewardship of all God's gifts, even pain. The book is a keeper and a good resource that I would give to people in my church who desire to deal with their pain.
Dr Townsend's book "Where is God?"
is a definite CLUCK IT: (something worth talking about).

Cluck/Chuck: Avatar Review Seen in 3-D
Environmentalism and Anti War sentiments abounded in this Liberally Minded Science Fiction tale? Does Hollywood have to continually preach to us? What about the art of just showing an entertaining good movie? The answer: the movie was good but the sermon was too long!
