The Far Field by Edie Meidav: Description of Book

I am currently reading The Far Field by Edie Meidav;  a Novel of Ceylon.  I have described the story as: An American  romantic dreamer Henry (set in the 1930's before WWII) has his mind set on creating a Modern Utopia in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Will the castes of Ceylon be despondent to Henry's dream?
