Stubb appears on stage smoking his black pipe spiting out grey smoke (a disinficting agent), compared to Quequeegs tomahawk that speys out a vibrant life giving green.  The original spot light should have been on Starbuck, the second spotlight appears and shines on Stubb, a third spot light will appear on Flask.  This is a presentation of the leaders to the men.

Not much here to tell the tale... so  I will keep reading.

I did make a table so that one that may be reading can tell which squire(harpooners) belongs to which knight(captains).

Captains (knights)	Harpooners (squires)
Starbuck	Queequeg: (South Seas Native, cannibal, son of the chief of the tribe)
Stubb	Tashtego:  (Native American, the hunter, he turns from hunting land animals to hunting whales.)
Flask	Daggoo  (African, gigantic 6'5" is noble and full of grace.)
